At The Shire Workshops, we offer a range of creative pottery and sculpture classes. Classes run for a number of weeks or as a one or half-day course. The workshop is available on an hourly basis for you to come and do whatever you want. Private Lesson is also available. Please see details below.

1-day Workshops & 8-week Courses

Learn how to throw pots on the pottery wheel, slab and coil build, hand-build pots, and explore decoration, glazing techniques, sculpture, and Raku. Take your finished creations home at the end of the course.


Glazed Raku full day pottery workshop, The Shire Workshops

1-day workshop

Join the magic and excitement of Raku glaze firings in our 1-day course, often held on Sundays. Spend the day discovering this remarkable pottery tradition, which originated in 16th-century Japan. Combining earth, fire, air, and water, Raku firing offers a dramatic and rewarding experience with quick results.


1-day Workshops & 8-week Courses

We offer a 1-day workshop using Pal Tiya Premium (an air-curing, permanent outdoor sculpture medium) as well as an 8-week Sculpting Course using pottery clay.
At the end of the workshop or course, you’ll be able to take your sculpture home. Each session explores a different theme.


Saturday workshops

We offer a variety of Art & Craft Workshops led by Nic from NixieMade, including Landscape Painting, Wire Jewellery, Postcards, and more. Typically runs 2~3 hours from 13:00~ on selected Saturdays.


Book studio time

Come and use the studio facilities as your own. The studio is available for you to book to work on your own projects without tuition. Book time slots for Bench Time or Wheel Time and continue your skills development and creative journey. You can also book private tuition in your chosen area of pottery (Handbuilding, Wheel throwing, Sculpture).
